Should Golden Boy Promotions part ways with Floyd Mayweather Jr?

There are cracks forming in the foundation of the relationship between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Golden Boy Promotions. According to numerous sources, Mayweather’s delay in signing the contract to fight Shane Mosley has caused serious frustrations and concerns within Golden Boy Promotions. This tumultuous relationship begs the question, should Golden Boy Promotions part ways with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

* "He still hasn't signed. I am so frustrated," Schaefer said. "I wanted both guys to go down to the Super Bowl in Miami to do some promotional stuff. I don't know what Floyd is waiting for. I have no clue. I have a signed contract from Shane on my desk. I have nothing from Floyd." Richard Schaefer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, in an interview with Dan Rafael of ESPN.com

Scott Hansen, Sacramento, CA “Golden Boy Promotions should part ways with Mayweather. He’s a chicken and he will only ruin the company’s image.” Well, he’s already ruined the company’s image in my opinion. In fact, read my latest article “Oscar De La Hoya has gone from ‘Golden Boy’ to ‘Fools Gold’” as I discuss some of the ways that Mayweather and others have tarnished the company and the image of Oscar De La Hoya. However, this latest stunt by Mayweather really is a slap in the face of GBP.

Both fighters are considered “in house” fighters because they are both contracted with GBP. For a company not to be able to sign a fight between two "in house" fighters is absurd. Mosley signed this contract last Friday. Now, I don’t always like to toot my own horn but “toot, toot” (Arn Anderson used to always say this back when he was a member of the 4 Horsemen) And yes, I just used a pro-wrestling quote. But, I said over the weekend and wrote an article that without a signature, Mayweather still has time to back out. “Still plenty of time for Floyd Mayweather Jr to back out of the fight with Shane Mosley.”

Nathan Breen Rosemont, CA “This obviously proves which fighter has been ducking the other one for the last decade.” Nathan you are right. I’m convinced more than ever that Mayweather has been the one ducking Mosley. When the CEO of the company you work for comes out and publicly questions your motives, hesitations, and thought process then you are in serious danger of major public backlash. The last supporter of Mayweather has now added more fuel to the fire of Mayweather's critics who claim Floyd is a "duck, coward, and chicken."

In my opinion, after all GBP has done to stick by Floyd, this should be the final nail in the coffin. GBP should part ways with Floyd and move on without all the criminal acts, ducking, false accusations, avoiding tougher fighters, only caring about the money, selfish attitude, preserving a tainted 40-0 record, and so much more.

Now, I'm not asking how practical this is to legally part ways, I'm just asking if GBP should part ways....
